Joint team of Hazaribag and Chatra police arrest six for demolishing electric towers

Hazaribag, Nov 21: A joint team of members of the police force from Hazaribag and Chatra received huge success in two similar cases related to the demolition of electric towers and theft of high-tension wires. The team arrested six and recovered several cutters and high-tension wires in huge quantities after they carried out raids in several areas of the Latehar district.

Police officials on Monday announced this success and said that on October 20 this year, two towers were demolished in Manar village of Katkamsandi block of Hazaribag after thieves took away expensive high-tension wires. An FIR 176/22 was lodged in this regard against unidentified thieves under various sections of the IPC and Prevention to Damage to Public Property Act.

Furthermore, on November 9, a similar incident took place in Angada village under the Shila picket. Thieves demolished four towers but failed to take away expensive wires. An FIR was lodged against unidentified thieves then as well.

Keeping in mind the urgent issue of the case and the various inputs, a joint team of Katkamsandi and Shila police was formed to move ahead in the case. The team, led by the officer-in-charge of Katkamsandi police station, Anand Azad and Shila picket in-charge Sushil Tuddu raided several areas in Chandwa and Latehar, arresting six, who admitted their involvement in the two cases.

The arrested six were identified as Kedar Ganjhu, Polikar Gudia, Ajay Saw, Vijay Singh, Rashid Alam and Mohammad Irshad alias Sonu. The team recovered a gas cutter, pipe novel set, high-tension wires and mobiles from them.
