Ranchi, Jan 28: The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO), the arm of the state urban development department overseeing the construction of project, has taken out tenders with an extended date for submission for the construction of a foot-over-bridge and escalator near Nucleus Mall and Kishoreganj in the capital.
Notably, the last date for submission of the tenders online is till February 3, whereas the final date for payment of the tender fee is February 4 till 5 pm. The tenders will be opened on February 4 by 5:30 pm.
Earlier, the online tender was invited by 5 pm on 27 January and the bid was to be opened on 28th February.
As per the state government plans, a total of eight foot over bridges are to be constructed in several areas of the capital to rid the residents of traffic. In the first phase, two foot-over-bridges are to be constructed.
Meanwhile, the already built foot over bridge near the Church complex will also be upgraded. A total of Rs 10.36 crore is assumed to be spent on the three above mentioned foot over bridges. Also, the company taking the work will have to complete the work of foot-over-bridges within 12 months.
Rs 3.88 crore are to be spent on the foot-over-bridge near Nucleus Mall, Rs 3.92 crore on the one near Kishoreganj and Rs 2.56 crore for upgrading the old foot-over-bridge near Church Complex.
The proposed 8 foot-over-bridges in Ranchi are to be built in places with more traffic pressure and a lot of jam. The areas where foot-over-bridges are proposed include Ratu Road Chowk, Birsa Chowk, Harmu Chowk, near Big Bazaar, Roshpa Tower, Albert Ekka Chowk, Kishoreganj Chowk and Nucleus Mall.
Due to the presence of big markets and shopping complexes in all these places, there is a significant amount of moving crowds throughout the day. Many-a-times, this rush causes accidents in the above-mentioned areas. The government believes construction of the new foot-over-bridges will help with the rush.
