Jamshedpur, Aug 21: The last Monday of the holy month of Shravan, which falls on August 28 will be marked by a grand musical soiree at Sakchi Gurdwara ground here.
Playback singer Kalpana Patowary will enthral the audience with bhajans and other folk songs.
Over the years she has made her mark in folk and item songs in Assamese, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Odia, Gujarat, Marathi and Bollywood films.
Har Har Mahadev Seva Sangh, a philanthropic organisation, will host the musical soiree on Antim Somwari (August 28) featuring Kalpana Patowary and her troupe.
Around 20,000 audience is expected to attend the musical event which will kick off at 6.30 pm and continue till mid-night.
Founder of the Sangh Amarpreet Singh Kale said this will be the 22nd year of celebrations for Antim Sombari and that the singer will be performing here for the third time.
“A huge waterproof pandal will be constructed. As usual, illuminations will be done on the 1km stretch of Kalimati Road in front of Sakchi Gurdwara,” said Singh.
According to Singh, the purpose of the programme was to promote peace and harmony. “People of all faiths have been invited for the grand show,” he said, adding that preparations have begun in full swing at the venue of the event.
One of the highlights of the function will be the Sangh Ratna Award, which was instituted some years ago for professional excellence and distinguished service. This year, the jury will announce the name of the recipient of the award on August 25.
Last year too, Har Har Mahadev Seva Sangh organised a similar function on the last Monday of Shravan. Bhojpuri singer Bharat Sharma performed at the grounds while noted Bhajan singer Lakhbir Singh Lakkha had mesmerised the audience with his melodious voice in 2009.
Popular Bhojpuri singers Bharat Sharma, Lakhbir Singh Lakkha, Manoj Tiwary and Devi had also staged performances here in the past.
Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota and Kailash Kher had also performed at the same venue in the past.
The organisers informed that strict security arrangements would be made at the venue for the smooth conduct of the musical evening.
