New Delhi, Jan 13: On the recommendation of MHA,11 policemen of Rohini district have been suspended on Friday for negligence while on duty.
This police personnel was on duty in PCR vans and pickets at the time when this incident happened in which the woman’s body was dragged for several kilometres by a car after it hit her scooter.
MHA directed the city police to serve show-cause notices to the supervisory officers for their alleged dereliction of duties.
The police officer said, “As approved by the competent authority, a total of 11 policemen of Rohini district deployed on the route at PCRs and pickets have been suspended in view of the Sultanpuri incident”.
Earlier, an inquiry committee headed by special commissioner Shalini Singh submitted a report. The MHA after going through the detailed report has filed a petition to the Delhi police to call on Section 302 of the IPC against the accused persons.

Also, MHA has asked the Delhi Police to review the affiliation of PCR vans with districts. Currently, PCR vans are affiliated with the district police. The Delhi Police has been asked to again make PCR vans a separate unit. Arrangements in areas which are not properly lit and there is less presence of pickets or officers were made at the behest of the ministry.
