Ranchi, Feb 22: The Jharkhand High Court continued its stay on the Ranchi Municipal Corporation order directing the mutton sellers to take their animals to Kanke slaughterhouse for slaughter after due medical check-up and informing them about the provision of Rs 2000 fine for not doing so.
The order to continue the stay on the order came from the court of Justice Rajesh Shanker after the civic authority could not explain the procedure to follow in Kanke’s slaughterhouse saying a resolution explaining the procedure to be followed before slaughtering the animals in the slaughterhouse has been sent to the state government for gazette notification.
The court deferring the hearing in the matter till March 22 directed the civic authority to file an affidavit in this regard.
They reached the court after Qureshi Panchayat and Shopkeeper Welfare Society challenged the RMC order saying it was not practically possible for mutton sellers to take the animal to a slaughterhouse in Kanke which is far from many places.
