Daltonganj, Oct 23: A car owner, Ashish, had a horrifying time last night when he found a huge karait snake sitting on the engine of his car in Daltonganj.
A snake rescuer, Anshika Srivastav, was informed about the snake who then informed her colleague, Jyoti, about the incident.
Jyoti is considered the most experienced and brave snake rescuer in the region. They tried to get the snake out of the car’s bonnet but failed.
Jyoti said she rushed to the car around 9.30 last night and found her colleague Anshika on the job of the rescue of the karait snake. She lifted the bonnet and found the snake there. She got the engine started to make the snake come out of the engine but it did not work. After this, a water jet was used to drive the snake out but again it didn’t come out. She then caught the tail of the snake but the snake managed to slip out of her clutch.
The rescue operation was halted asking the car owner Ashish not to park his car near his home for the whole night and try finding it today during the daytime as it was getting dark.
Till the time of writing this story, efforts were being made to trace the karait snake in daylight.
Jyoti said she and her team have had many such encounters where snakes have been found coiled either in bikes or cars. She said her team once rescued a rat snake from a car. Similarly, a water snake was once retrieved from a bike. Luckily so far, there has been no harm to humans by these snakes.
Jyoti advises car owners and bikers to be alert if the location of parking is in an area where the frequency of snakes or any other beings like scorpion, lizards etc is reported.
