New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal alleged on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intends to demolish all slums in Delhi if it comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference in the Shakur Basti area, Kejriwal accused the BJP of prioritizing land acquisition over the welfare of slum dwellers.

BJP’s Land Grab Allegations

Kejriwal warned slum residents about the BJP’s intentions, saying, “They are after your votes now, but after the elections, they’ll be after your land.” He criticized the BJP’s ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makaan’ scheme as superficial, claiming that only 4,700 flats had been built for slum dwellers in the past five years.

He further accused the BJP of planning to displace slum residents without addressing their housing needs. “They intend to clear the slums and grab the land, showing no regard for the people who live there,” he added.

Satyendar Jain Joins the Rally

Joining Kejriwal at the event was senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain, who is contesting from the Shakur Basti constituency for the fourth consecutive time after winning in 2013, 2015, and 2020.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

The Delhi assembly elections are set to take place on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. AAP, which secured a commanding 62 out of 70 seats in 2020, is aiming for a third consecutive full term in office. Kejriwal’s comments come as part of AAP’s campaign to solidify its voter base among slum dwellers and counter the BJP’s promises.
