Khunti returns to normalcy after Ram Navami clash

Ranchi, April 7: Normalcy returned to Khunti, which had become disturbed following incidents of stone-pelting on Wednesday after a dispute over the movement of Ram Navami procession on Tuesday night.

 

A locality resident informed this saying normalcy returned after a meeting of the peace committee of the district at Town Hall and interference of influential people of security mindset from both the communities involved in stone-pelting.

 

“Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan had presided over the meeting, which took place in a harmonious atmosphere,” the locality resident said.

 

The Superintendent of police of the district, Aman Kumar, confirmed the development saying that the situation is completely under control.

 

Asked about the administrative action, SP Kumar said:  “Three FIRs have been registered in this connection. As many as seven persons were also detained but they were let off after a warning. Further action will be taken in the matter after supervision and other necessary legal formalities.”
