New Delhi, Nov 22: Aftab Amin Poonawalla, who is suspected of brutally killing his partner Shraddha Walkar, was given a four-day extension of police custody on Tuesday by a Saket Court.
In a video-conferenced hearing, Judge Aviral Shukla prolonged the police detention.
Poonawalla explained to the court during the hearing today that he killed Shraddha out of an unprovoked fit of rage. There were inconsistencies in his statements, it was suggested, because he was unable to establish a precise chain of events because it had been months since the alleged assault.
The Court had permitted the police last week to conduct a narco-analysis (lie-detection) test on the accused.

Poonawalla and Walkar met on the dating app Bumble and later began a live-in relationship.
According to police investigating the case, on May 18, following a fight between the couple in a rental apartment in Mehrauli, the accused strangled the victim before chopping her body into 35 pieces, storing them in a refrigerator, and dumping the pieces over the course of the following 18 days in various locations around the city.
