Jamshedpur, Aug 10: Even as the Seraikela-Kharsawan district police is groping around for a clue to the criminals involved in the Adityapur jewellery shop loot, Kolhan DIG, Ajay Linda on Thursday held a review meeting for assessing progress in the investigation of the case.
As no progress was noticed in the case despite an SIT being formed for the investigation, Linda has increased the purview of the investigation and included East Singhbhum police also in it.
Speaking to the newsmen at the Adityapur thana where the review meeting was held today, the DIG pointed out that though the case is yet to unravel it is for certain that those who committed the loot in such a professional way must be outsiders.
“As the looters have taken along the DVR of the CCTV camera set, the investigation into the case has become difficult. But the Jamshedpur police have been instructed to chip in the investigation by taking necessary help from its technical cell. We are hopeful of cracking the case soon, ” said Linda while talking to the newsmen.
A gang of three criminals had decamped with gold ornaments worth about Rs 25 lakh from Ishwarlal Jewellers located at Gamharia market under Adityapur thana area on August 6 morning.
The criminals who had partially covered their faces with masks had posed themselves to be customers and asked the shop owner to show jewellery meant for daughter’s marriage. As the salesmen brought out selective ornaments from the showcases and put them all for display, the criminals had taken the shop owner as well as the salesmen under control at gun points and had decamped with the ornaments.
