Kolkata, Sept 13: In the Burrabazar area of central Kolkata, a police car was set on fire on Tuesday afternoon. Men racing around with clubs and hurling stones were captured on video from the scene.

The flames are already under control after an emergency call for a fire tender.

One of the busiest wholesale markets in the city is Burrabuzar, and images taken there indicated that practically all of the establishments had closed their shutters before midday.

This occurs the same day that BJP supporters and state police engaged in combat while participating in a protest march against the Trinamool Congress, the government. To disperse demonstrators protesting against suspected corruption of the state’s ruling regime who were marching to the state secretariat in Nabanna, the police used tear gas and water cannons.

Four BJP workers including Suvendu Adhikari and Locket Chatterjee were arrested on their way to the march from the Panagarh Railway Station in the state’s West Burdwan district.
