Lack of corona testing kit reduces testing rate in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 26: At the time when 10 to 15 covid patients are found daily, the state is facing a shortage of VTM (Viral Transport Media) kits which is used in corona testing by the RTPCR method.

Due to the shortage of the kit Health Department is only able to conduct 30,000 tests daily against the target of 80,000 tests daily.

Sources in Health Department said that a total of 18 lakh test kits including 10 lakh RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) and 8 lakh VAT kits will be supplied to the state on November 29 for which the order had been placed on November 22.

In the district where there was a shortage of kits, they have been supplied from other districts. Kits were sent from Jamtara in Deoghar and Dhanbad districts. Whereas in Chaibasa, kits have been ordered from Khunti and supplied.

On November 25, 7 new corona patients have been found in the state. On testing with rapid test, 2 have been found infected and 3 after testing with RTPCR. At the same time, 16 new patients have been found on November 24. Whereas on November 23, 12 new patients have been found.
