Ranchi, April 4: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has taken up the initiative to clean up the algae bloom which has been covering various parts of the Swami Vivekananda Sarovar or Bada Talab situated at the heart of the city. This takes place after a story was published by Lagatar24.com on March 3 about the status of the Bada Talab.
The RMC had earlier planned to clean up the city’s lakes by the end of March 2022. However, this was not the reality as the majority of the lakes have been covered with algae bloom or water hyacinth. A patch of Bada Talab was also covered with algae bloom a couple of days back but the RMC has taken immediate action after the report was published.
The RMC has also planned to set up a sewage treatment plant (STP) in the Swami Vivekanand Sarovar and it shall be installed soon. Once it is installed, the pollution level in the lake will be quite less as there will be a timely cleaning of the lake and it shall help in restoring the flora and fauna of the waterbody.
