Ranchi, Mar 29: A day after lagatar24.com exposed the inaccessibility problem of the paying ward at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the management has changed its rule, making the paid ward more easily accessible.
Earlier, on the recommendation of the doctors of RIMS for getting admitted to the paying ward, a person had to write a letter to the Superintendent’s office for availing room in the paying ward.
But now with the change in the rules, a person will not have to write any letter for the allotment of the room in the paying ward.
Deputy Medical Superintendent at RIMS Dr Shailesh Tripathi said, “For making the system smooth the rule has been augmented, now after the recommendation of the doctors for the patient getting admitted to the paying ward, the patient will be allotted the room from the superintendent’s office and three days money for the room will have to be deposited upfront.”
The paying ward at RIMS is currently facing a shortage of patients due to several reasons such as inaccessibility, long procedures to avail room, cost of the room and negligence by doctors due to inaccessibility.
However, the change in the rules to make the rooms easily available has sorted out one problem, but other problems with the paying ward still persist.
Sources at RIMS said that the change in the rules will help in getting a few more patients but making it accessible will be a game-changer for the paying ward. At the same time, the cost of the rooms should also be decreased which will help in attracting more patients.
The 100-bed paying ward was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das on July 26, 2018. The five-storey paying ward, built at a cost of Rs 22 crore, has four elevators. It has 100 fully furnished rooms with the facility of two beds, a television, an air conditioner and a fridge. The ground floor has a dining hall, conference hall, kitchen and recreation room.
