Ranchi, April 22: The bail plea of RJD chief Lalu Yadav has been accepted by the Jharkhand High Court. The HC has granted conditional bail to Yadav where he will have to deposit half of the fine amount fixed by the CBI Court along with the punishment.
During the last hearing, the CBI had requested the court to give some time to file the counter affidavit which was accepted by the court. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal had informed the court that Yadav had already spent 11 months of his sentence. After the conviction by the CBI Court, Yadav has filed a High Court petition for bail.
In a case of illegal withdrawal from Ranchi’s Doranda treasury in fodder scam, the CBI court on February 25 convicted Lalu Prasad Yadav and imposed a five-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 60 lakh. Yadav had challenged this decision of the CBI court in the High Court.
Presently, Yadav’s treatment is going on in AIIMS Delhi. Earlier he was admitted in the paying ward of RIMS but when the condition worsened, doctors referred him to AIIMS for better treatment.
