Patna, May 20: BJP MP Sushil Modi described Lalu Yadav and his family as ‘a symbol of corruption in Bihar,’ saying the RJD chief’s strategy was to entice those seeking jobs in exchange for land.
After the CBI raided 17 locations in Delhi and Bihar in connection with a newly registered ‘land for railway job scam’ against Yadav and his daughter Misa Bharti, Modi made these claims against the Yadav family.
“The modus operandi was that you give me land and in return, I will give a Group D job in the Railways. Here, the land was first granted in someone else’s name and after 5-6 years it was gifted to Yadav and his family (by the said group-D employee),” said Sushil Modi.
“Shivanand Tiwari, who is a senior leader of RJD and Lalan Singh, who is the President of JDU, had given a memorandum to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and alleged how Yadav got those lands in exchange for a job,” he added.
He said that in his 2018 book ‘Lalu Leela’, he detailed the incidence of Hridayanand Choudhary and Lalan Choudhary, the former serving in the Bihar Legislative Council and the latter in the Railways.
The BJP MP also expressed worry about how a D-group employee could afford to gift houses valued millions of dollars.
Yadav, according to the senior Bihar BJP leader, owns 141 land plots and 30 flats, as well as a half-dozen mansions, all of which are documented in this book (Lalu Leela). “I’m curious as to how someone born into a peon’s family can amass this much wealth in just 25 years,” he continued.
