Dhanbad, April 12: Unidentified criminals today shot dead land dealer Rajkumar Sao and critically injured his friend Nagendra Yadav in Kurmidih area under the Barwadda police station, around 8 km away from here.
Rajkumar was declared brought dead at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital while Narendra Yadav is under treatment. Reportedly he has received four bullets. He was later referred to RIMS Ranchi.
A police official said the incident occurred around 1.45 pm. Rajkumar and his friend Nagendra Yadav, a BCCL employee, were sitting on his land in Kurmidih when all of sudden three criminals riding on a bike reached and sprayed bullets on them.
The criminals first fired on Rajkumar. When Nagendra Yadav tried to run away, they also fired on him. The police recovered six empty cartridges from the spot.
Getting information, DSP, law and order, Arvind Kumar Binha, DSP headquarter-1 Amar Kumar Pandey, Barwadda police station officer in-charge Bikram Kumar Singh, Bhuli OP officer in-charge Nadu Pal reached the spot and began investigation.
DSP Binha told media persons that the incident is being probed from different angles and police would arrest the killers soon.
Eye witnesses said Rajkumar and Nagendra were eating cucumber while sitting on bamboo pillars dumped on land. Criminals reached on bike and returned in two to three minutes’ operation.
Both were immediately sent to the medical college hospital. Rajkumar, who had been shot in head succumbed to his injury on way.
