Daltonganj, Sept 1: Latehar DC Bhor Singh Yadav today inspected the Sadar Hospital and found cleanliness a big miss at the hospital.

District Civil surgeon Dr Dinesh Kumar said the DC wanted Sadar Hospital to be cleaner. The job of cleanliness here is in the hands of an outsourcing agency which does not care much for it as it has more female staff who find it hard to do cleanliness work outside the wards.

Shabby bed sheets were another eye sore to the DC. “The mechanised laundry is non-functional in this hospital and as such washing is done manually,” added the civil surgeon.

The DC also found a few absences like that of the dentist today. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the tardy progress of renovation work in the pathological laboratory and x ray unit where the renovation work is on for months together. The executive engineer of the PWD building was given a tongue lashing by the DC, according to DC.

The DC also went on the roof of the Sadar Hospital building and found things in mess there enough to clog rain water or overflow water of the roof top water tanks.

A senior health official Ved Prakash said that from now onwards, cleaners, ANMs and doctors have been advised to wear apron or follow their respective dress code.

Presence of male attendants in the maternity ward also irked DC Bhor Singh Yadav. He asked the civil surgeon to keep males at bay from the maternity ward.

Civil surgeon said the rush is of the patients but their attendants outnumber the patients and that leads to chaos. On average, 300 to 400 patients come everyday in this hospital accompanied by attendants and it is difficult to contain their numbers.

Moreover, security personnel were found doing relaxed duty that is chatting with the doctors when they ought to have been at the designated place for duty.
