Daltonganj, May 15: The lifeline express train popularly known as the hospital train stationed at platform number two at the Tori railway station under the East Central Railway of the Dhanbad division in Latehar district has started offering medical services from today. It will continue till June 4 all free of cost.
The services of the lifeline express train were declared open to the general public today at a simple but impressive function held at platform two of the Tori railway station wherein the local JMM MLA Baidyanath Ram, DC Latehar Bhore Singh Yadav, district health officials and officials of the Impact India Foundation Life Line Express Project graced the opening of the medical services along with the patients and women who were present in considerable numbers in it on the very first day of take off.
Latehar DC Bhore Singh Yadav said, “We urge people to avail of this quality medical care and treatment all free. They should not wait for another day but come soon.”
Yadav said, “We have made our community health centre at Chandwa its screening centre where visitors with health issues will be screened and referred to the precise treatment at the lifeline express train.”
“As for the post-operative cases we have made arrangements at the premise of the block office Chandwa,” said Yadav.
Cases of cataracts are more in number, he said.
Patients are to come with one proof of identity, better and more convenient would be their Aadhar card, he said.
This is the first instance here in the Latehar district where such a health train has come.
The medical officer in charge of the community health centre at Chandwa Dr N K Pandey said under the order of the DC a fleet of 30 para medics like ANMs and MPW (multi-purpose worker) has been deployed for this.
Dr Pandey said the eye care and treatment including surgery of the eye is to go on till this May 20 at the lifeline express train.
Pathological tests like that of blood and blood sugar etc are also available, said Pandey.
The railway traffic inspector of the Tori railway station Sanjay Kumar said we are extending all our support and cooperation to this lifeline express train which is of extreme benefit to all.
