Ranchi, Aug.19: The Latehar police have arrested four persons for killing BJP leader and former Zila Parishad vice president Rajendra Sahu.

Those arrested include Jitendra Vishwakarma, Shiv Pujan Singh, Ashwini Kumar and Kuldeep Ganjhu. All are associated with the extremist organisation TSPC. Four pistols and 30 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Latehar SP Anjani Anjan shared the breakthrough organising a press conference at his office.

Sahu was shot and injured on August 12 near Doon Central School in Jhariva Tola under the Balumath police station. On August 14, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Medica in Ranchi.

SP Anjan said Sahu had an encounter with assailants. He said the encounter started after Sahu accompanied by some of the local youths chased two assailants deputed by TSPC regional committee member Akraman Ganjhu carrying a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on his head.

A day before the police shared the breakthrough, the TSPC issued a letter claiming responsibility for Sahu’s murder. According to the letter, the TSPC took military action against Sahu after the latter duped the organisation’s fund allotted for purchase of firearms in crores.
