SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad Aug 9: The district Congress committee on Monday set up a six-member committee of senior leaders to probe into police lathi charge on Intermediate girl students at the Collectorate who had gone to meet the health minister.

Announcing the probe committee, Cong district president Brajendra Prasad Singh said that the committee members have been directed to collect video footage of lathi charge,  print media reports, talk to the victim students and their guardians and the district administration officials and submit a report so that the party could recommend action against responsible persons.

The committee members are executive president of district Cong Committee Ravindra Verma, senior leader Madan Mahto, Suresh Chandra Jha, Shamsher Alam, Yogendra Singh Yogi and Manto Das.
Notably, the Congress Party is a divided house over lathicharge on intermediate failed girl students at the Dhanbad collectorate on August 6 and  August 7.

While the party’s Jharia MLA Purnima Singh, Barkagaon ( Hazaribagh) MLA Amba Prasad have assailed the incident and demanded action against the SDM, state Cong executive president  Dr Irfan Ansari ( Jamtara MLA) held the BJP responsible for the incident. He alleged that BJP Dhanbad Sadar MLA Raj Sinha and Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta instigated students for agitation.

“The party would take a stand on the basis of the probe committee report,” said district president  Brajendra Prasad Singh
