New Delhi, July 24: Randeep Singh Surjewala of the Congress has asked the Supreme Court to overturn the contentious law connecting Aadhaar and the Voter Identity Card.
Tomorrow’s case will be heard by the apex court. The case contesting the change to the election law will be heard tomorrow by a bench made up of Justices D Y Chandrachud and A S Bopanna.
Following a backlash, the Central Government justified the action, stating that tying Aadhaar to voter identities was essential for getting rid of duplicate and bogus voter registration forms and ensuring fair and transparent elections.
Surjewala claims that the statute violates both the right to privacy and the right to equality and is unlawful in the petition.
