Dhanbad, April 17: Helpless prisoners of the Dhanbad Divisional Jail will now get legal services free of cost to defend their case.
Principal District and Session Judge cum chairman of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Ram Sharma inaugurated the Legal Aid Clinic inside the divisional jail, the first of its kind, and said that Legal Aid Clinic has been set up for providing free of cost legal assistance to those prisoners who are unable to plead their case in court.
Sharma informed that in District Legal Service Authority, the chief, deputy chief, assistant legal and defence counsels have been appointed to provide legal assistance to poor prisoners in court.
“ Send the application of prisoners to the District Legal Service Authority properly so that the problem of helpless inmates could be solved by providing legal aid,” directed the DLSA chairman to the jail authority.
On the occasion, the Jail Court was also held in which Judicial Magistrate (Rail) Ankit Kumar Singh ordered the release of four inmates.
Earlier, Ram Sharma along with chief judicial magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, additional chief judicial magistrate Kuldeep Man, deputy judicial magistrate cum DLSA secretary Nitasha Barla, and judicial magistrate Ankit Kumar Singh inspected the divisional jail and met 702 prisoners and handed their report over their health condition, treatment, drinking water facility, breakfast, lunch and status of their case.
The DLSA chairman also met 34 women prisoners and directed the jail authorities for improving sanitation services and treatment in the jail hospital.
