Jamshedpur, Aug 29: Several places across Jharkhand are expected to experience light rain today as the monsoon trough has shifted close to the foothills of the Himalayas.

Weathermen said two cyclonic circulations which were hovering over Jharkhand are gradually becoming weak.

However, in its short-term forecast issued this morning IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre indicated moderate thunder and lightning in isolated areas.

Met data suggested that the twin cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand resulted in heavy showers at a few places including Jamshedpur in the past 24 hours.

The local weather office recorded rainfall of 67 mm while capital Ranchi recorded around 35 mm of rain.

Rain statistics suggested that against a normal rain of 778mm, the state has so far received 565 mm of rain, a deficit of 27 per cent.
