Jamshedpur, Aug 4: IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre issued a forecast of light rain at a few places over the state today.
Weathermen said Jharkhand would continue to witness restricted rainfall activity for the next two days.
“Though the monsoon trough was passing through the Palamu region but much rainfall activity is not expected,” said a duty officer at the Ranchi Met Centre.
He also ruled out the possibility of heavy showers at least in the next 72 hours or so.
In the local forecast for Ranchi and its adjoining districts the weather office also issued an alert of a thunderstorm or duststorm today.
Rainfall statistics suggested that Jharkhand was still facing a rain deficit of 48 per cent.
Against a normal of 538.7 mm, the state has so far actually received a meagre 382 mm of rain, resulting in such a huge deficit.
Weathermen at IMD’s regional centre at Kolkata said the formation of a strong low-pressure area or a cyclonic circulation can only trigger a good spell of rain in Jharkhand.
