Jamshedpur, Sept 5: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain at most places over Jharkhand today.
Weathermen said overcast condition is expected to prevail in most parts of the state today.
An alert for thundershowers and lightning was also issued for isolated areas.
Meanwhile, the western end of the monsoon trough still lies along the foothills of the Himalayas.
However, its eastern end continues to pass through Gorakhpur, Patna, Hazaribag, Bankura, Digha and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal at mean sea level.
The cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood was extending up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.
A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal to east Bihar across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
