Jamshedpur, Aug 19: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain over Jharkhand for the next three days.
The Met centre did not issue any alerts of heavy rain for next 72 hours. Heavy rain is expected in north- eastern parts of the state only after the next 72 hours.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal was today lying over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh during next 2-3 days.
The western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level was running close to the foothills of the Himalayas and its eastern end was passing through Gorakhpur, Dehri, Ranchi, Balasore and thence southeastwards to the centre of low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal-north Odisha coasts.
According to statistics, Jharkhand was still facing a rain deficit of 36 per cent.
