Jamshedpur, July 5: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a bulletin suggesting light to moderate rain at many places over Jharkhand on Wednesday and Thursday.
Weathermen said the monsoon trough was passing through Daltonganj. The monsoon trough at mean sea level was crossing through Ganganagar, Delhi, Aligarh, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Daltonganj, Balasore and thence southeastwards to Central Bay of Bengal.
A cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh was today lying over central parts of Uttar Pradesh extending up to 3.1 Km above mean sea level.
Light to moderate rain was observed at a few places while heavy rain was also observed at isolated places over the state during the past 48 hours.
Monsoon activity was normal over the state. The highest rainfall recorded was 85.2 mm at Ghormara (Deoghar).
The highest maximum temperature of around 37°C was recorded at Jamshedpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 25°C was recorded at Chaibasa.
The long-term forecast of IMD suggests heavy rain at a few isolated places around this weekend.
Till yesterday Jharkhand was facing a rain deficit of 39%. According to rain statistics against a normal of 226 mm, the state has so far received 137 mm, thus resulting in a deficit of 39 per cent.
