Jamshedpur, July 24: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain with thundershowers activity at a few places over Jharkhand today.

The Meteorological Centre did not issue any sector-wise alerts for the next 72 hours as the monsoon activity is expected to remain weak for the next few days.

Statistics revealed that against a normal of 426 mm, the state has so far received 234 mm of rain, resulting in a deficit of 45 per cent.

As of today all 24 districts figured in the rain deficit list.

Weathermen said unless it rains heavily, in the absence of widespread rain it’s difficult to make up for the deficit.

July happens to be the peak monsoon month which normally should get over 300 mm of rain.

Meanwhile, the monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Dessa, Ratlam, Betul, Brahmpuri, Kanker, Kalingapatnam and thence east-southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.

The cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southeast Rajasthan and northeast Gujarat region was today lying over central Madhya Pradesh extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.

A cyclonic circulation is very likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal today.

Weathermen said under its influence a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the subsequent 24 hours.
