New Delhi, Sept 27: The Supreme Court of India will start streaming sessions from the Constitution Bench live today, making it a historic day for open courts and transparency.
The Supreme Court decided last week to start streaming Constitution Bench arguments live starting on September 27.
The choice was made last week during a full court hearing called by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit. According to the sources, the decision was unanimous, and the proceedings will initially be broadcast live on YouTube.
As recently stated by the CJI, the highest court will soon create its own platform to host the live telecast of proceedings.
The Bohra community’s right to excommunicate, the amount of compensation for the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the retroactive application of arrest immunity, and the scope of the Supreme Court’s authority under Article 142 to grant divorce when a party does not consent are some of the other Constitution Bench cases that are scheduled to start soon.
