New Delhi, Sept 21: The Supreme Court of India has agreed to start Live streaming of Constitution bench proceedings from Tuesday, September 27.

The choice was made on Tuesday night during a full court meeting called by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit.

The Supreme Court will soon create its own website to conduct a live broadcast of hearings. Now, anyone can watch the proceedings in cases such as the challenges to the Citizenship Amendment Act, the revocation of special status under Article 370 to Jammu and Kashmir, and the quota to Upper Castes on economic basis.

Although a concrete step was taken on August 26 when proceedings from the court of former Chief Justice NV Ramana were webcast live on his last day in office, this is a significant decision since the current Chief Justice of India (CJI), Uday Umesh Lalit, took office.

In a recent full court meeting, Justice UU Lalit presided over, the judges unanimously determined that live streaming should start with constitutional cases and eventually cover all hearings.
