Ranchi: Visitors heading to the popular Johna Falls near Ranchi are facing serious inconvenience as the public toilets built for tourists remain locked most of the time, forcing people to either plead with local handlers or pay arbitrary charges to use basic sanitation facilities.

Tourism Given Industry Status, Facilities Still Missing

The Jharkhand government has granted tourism the status of an industry and announced a tourism policy aimed at developing tourist destinations and providing subsidies to investors. Under this framework, infrastructure such as restrooms and other public amenities has been constructed near several tourist spots, including Johna Falls in the Angara block. However, the ground reality sharply contradicts official claims, as essential facilities for visitors are either inaccessible or poorly managed.

Locked Toilets and Arbitrary Charges at Johna Falls

Despite the construction of toilets near Johna Falls, these facilities remain locked, causing discomfort, especially for families, women, and elderly tourists. Visitors allege that to get the toilet unlocked, they are forced to appease local management staff and pay unreasonable amounts. This situation highlights a gap between government प्रचार and actual service delivery at tourist destinations.

Gap Between Promotion and Reality

While the government continues to promote Jharkhand’s tourist spots through advertisements claiming modern amenities, the experience at Johna Falls tells a different story. The lack of basic facilities like functional toilets raises serious questions about maintenance, monitoring, and accountability at government-developed tourism infrastructure.
