Ranchi, Aug. 13: The Superintendent of police (SP) of Lohardaga has ordered a thorough probe after blood soaked body of a Jharkhand police jawan Ashutosh Kumar deputed for the security of the public prosecutor in the district was recovered in his room at the police line under Sadar police station area of the district with a bullet injury at its head.
SP R Ramkumar informed about the probe when contacted to know whether it was a case of suicide or something else.
“Abhi Inquiry chal raha hai,” S.P Ramkumar said.
Police sources said the recovery of the body took place this morning though the incident took place in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. A police official said that primary facie the matter appears to be a case of suicide as the service pistol was recovered beside the blood soaked body. However, he said, it will be too early to give any conclusive statement in the matter. Help of a finger print expert is being taken to ascertain whether the pistol was used by the jawan or someone else.
The constable had joined the Jharkhand Police in 2005. His native village was under Agiaon Bazar police station area in Bhojpur district of Bihar. After the incident, the family members of the deceased jawan have been informed. The body has been sent to Lohardaga Hospital for autopsy.
