Dhanbad, Dec 9: The deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Bokaro Kuldeep Kumar informed media persons that police are searching for Firoz alias Aslam Khan (50), a resident of the Bhuli Township in Dhanbad and a history-sheeter, across different locations of Bokaro and Dhanbad after he fled from his mandap while marrying a minor Hindu girl (16).
Firoz is a resident of Gaya in Bihar and has been living in the Bhuli township of Dhanbad. The police official said he is a history-sheeter and had been in jail in Chas, Bokaro, Jamtara, Chatra and Ranchi. Earlier, he had married a tribal girl in Petarbar, Bokaro in 2021 under a fake name Raj Soren. Later, he was arrested in a cheating case and his identity was exposed.
Police officials said that the incident took place on Wednesday night when Feroz reached Kumhar Tola along with his people. As the Sindurdan process began after the Varmala ritual, a relative of the bride suspected Firoz to be Muslim having seen his activities on Mandap.
They held up the marriage ritual for time being and one of them duly informed the Harla police station and activists of the local Bajrang Dal unit about it.
However, Firoz having found himself exposed escaped from the Mandap before the Bajrang Dal activists and police reached the village.
The police seized an Alto car belonging to Firoz and recovered a police uniform and an air gun from the car.
Police officials said Firoz trapped Kumhar Tola girl’s family members by assuring them to get their loan granted in a private financial institution. Later impersonating himself as a police Inspector he put pressure on the girl’s family members to get him married to her.
