Jamshedpur, July 12:  A low-pressure area originating from the Bay of Bengal and currently hovering over coastal areas of southern Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coupled with an associated cyclonic circulation would impact Jharkhand’s weather condition on Tuesday.

Weathermen issued a forecast of light to moderate showers at several places, especially southern Jharkhand on Tuesday due to the impact of the low pressure.

Met officials said the cyclonic circulation was extending up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.

“It is very likely to intensify and become more marked during the next 48 hours, ” said a duty officer at IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre.

The monsoon trough was today passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Damoh, Pendra Road, Balangir, the centre of a low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level.

Met data indicated light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at a few places over the state during the last 24- hours.

According to rain statistics so far Jharkhand has actually received 155.9 mm of rain against a normal of 296.4 mm, a deficit of 47 per cent.
