Low pressure trough likely to result in good spell of rain in north eastern Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Aug 12:  A low pressure trough stretched between Bihar and Bay of Bengal is expected to trigger a good spell of rain in north- eastern Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre also predicted heavy showers in isolated pockets of north-eastern Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.

The vulnerable districts included Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Dhanbad, Godda, Pakur, Jamtara and Sahibganj.

According to weathermen, the trough runs from eastern Bihar to northwest Bay of Bengal across West Bengal extending upto 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Baharaich, Muzaffarpur, Balurghat and thence eastwards towards Manipur.

Generally cloudy sky prevailed in most parts of the state today.

Jharkhand was still facing a deficit of 37 per cent. According to rain statistics, against a normal of 616 mm, the state has so far actually received rainfall of 388.8 mm.
