Mumbai, Oct 20: Four members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) were detained by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Panvel, Raigad district.
After the organisation was banned, the activists were conducting a meeting when the ATS, acting on specific information, arrested them.
Four arrested accused members of PFI from Panvel have been identified as PFI Panvel Secretary Abdul Rahim Yakub Sayyad along with members Moiz Matin Patel, Mohamad Asif Khan and Tanvir Hamid Khan.
The investigation is going on.
PFI and many of its associates were given a five-year ban by the authorities last month after they were charged with having ties to international terrorist organisations. In raids conducted last month in many states, more than 250 persons who were reportedly connected to the PFI were apprehended or taken into custody.
