New Delhi, Jan 11: Hasan Mushrif, a former minister for Maharashtra and the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had his Kolhapur home raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in relation to a corruption case involving a sugar factory.

The offices of other connected individuals in Pune and a few other locations were also searched by the central investigation agency.

Leader of the BJP Kirit Somaiya filed a case against Mushrif with the Enforcement Directorate in 2022. He has charged Mushrif with corrupting the Appasaheb Nalawade sugar factory in Kolhapur to the tune of Rs 100 crore through a private company purportedly operated and owned by one of his cousins.

According to Somaiya, Mateem Hasin Mangoli, a relative of the minister, owned Brics India Private Limited, which allegedly took over the sugar factory. Mushrif and others did not follow any procedure when selecting Brics India as the winning bidder.

Somaiya claimed in a different charge that Mushrif was responsible for the illicit diverting and laundering of Rs 127 crore from the Sar Senapati Santaji Ghorpade sugar plant.
