Ranchi: In a significant setback to the AJSU (All Jharkhand Students Union) party just ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, former minister and AJSU’s central vice president, Umakant Rajak, has resigned from all party positions. Rajak submitted his resignation to the party’s central president, Sudesh Mahto, through a letter, requesting to be relieved of his duties.
Sources indicate that Rajak is likely to join the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) soon and may contest the elections from the Chandankyari constituency on a JMM ticket.
Umakant Rajak May Contest from Chandankyari on a JMM Ticket
Rajak, a former legislator from Chandankyari and a minister in the government, was eyeing the Chandankyari seat. Despite multiple attempts by AJSU to secure the seat, it remains with the BJP, as incumbent MLA Amar Kumar Bauri represents the constituency. Given that the BJP is unlikely to cede this seat, Rajak has stepped down from his position as central vice president of AJSU. He is now expected to contest the upcoming elections from Chandankyari on a JMM ticket.
