Man gets 25-year jail for raping minor in West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, Sept 11: The court of additional district Judge -I on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old man Akhtar Ansari to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor under the Gua thana area of West Singhbhum in June 2021.

Apart from the rigorous imprisonment, the court has also slapped a penalty of Rs 30,000 on the convict.

A resident of Chhatapather in Deoghar district, Akhtar had in the afternoon of June 10 picked up a poor minor girl for cleaning his residence somewhere in Gua.

The convict had made the minor sit on his motorcycle but on the way he stopped near a forest stretch where he raped the girl.

After falling victim to the rapist, the minor revealed the incident before her parents who had immediately gone over to the Gua thana and lodged an FIR against the motorcycle rider.

The police had registered a case against an unknown under Section 376(3) of the POCSO Act and had started the investigation.

Though it was a blind case, the police arrested the culprit by carrying out an investigation by following scientific way.
