Palghar, June 14: In the Nalasopara neighbourhood of Palghar district, police reported that a guy had been arrested for allegedly raping a married woman, 29, under the pretence of showing her his home.

In addition, the accused took some explicit pictures of the victim, and on the basis of those, he allegedly threatened to harm her husband and the victim by spreading the images online, the police said.

Following the victim’s allegation, Akash Vitthal Sankpal, the accused, was detained by Achole Police after a case was filed against him under the Indian Penal Code.

The victim and the accused have known each other for the past three years and are also neighbours, according to the police. Using this, the accused called the victim under the pretence of showing her his house before repeatedly raping her.

Later, once the woman had told her husband about the incident, the couple went to the police and reported it. According to police, after filing a complaint, they apprehended the accused and brought him before the court before sending him to police custody.
