Paris: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh delivered a stellar performance to win bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics 2024. The pair’s victory added to India’s medal tally, marking the second shooting medal for the country in these Games.

The bronze medal match saw Bhaker and Singh outclass South Korea with a 16-10 win. Manu Bhaker, who had already made history by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal earlier in the Games, now holds the distinction of being the first athlete from independent India to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games.

The match followed a race-to-16-points format, with Bhaker and Singh demonstrating exceptional skill and composure. Despite a strong start from the Korean shooters, Bhaker and Singh steadily gained the upper hand. Their teamwork and precision shooting ensured a series of wins, pushing the score in their favor.

The Indian pair showed remarkable resilience and coordination. In the crucial moments, whenever Sarabjot faltered, Manu consistently scored high, maintaining the team’s lead. The final series saw India securing the win with a score of 19.6 against South Korea’s 18.5, clinching the bronze medal.

This victory is particularly significant for Manu Bhaker, who at just 22 years old, has set a new benchmark for Indian athletes at the Olympics. With a chance to compete in the 25m air rifle event, she stands on the brink of achieving a historic hat-trick of medals at a single Olympic Games.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with the entire nation, celebrated their triumph, highlighting the duo’s dedication and hard work. As the Paris Olympics continue, India looks forward to more stellar performances from its athletes.

The Paris 2024 Olympics have not only witnessed historic moments but have also underscored India’s growing prowess in shooting sports on the global stage.
