New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) post-Budget conference on Tuesday, expressed his vision for India to celebrate its 100th year of independence in 2047 as a developed nation.

Reflecting on India’s journey since independence, PM Modi stated, “We achieved independence as a poor nation, exploited until the very end. In 100 years, after overcoming numerous challenges and achieving our goals, India will mark its centenary of independence as a developed country.”

Highlighting the efforts of the BJP-led NDA government, Modi emphasized their commitment to creating a Viksit Bharat (developed India) for future generations. He noted that the world is watching India’s policies, commitment, determination, decisions, and investments, which are becoming the foundation for global progress.

“Investors from around the world are eager to come here, and world leaders are optimistic about India. This presents a significant opportunity for our industries that we must not miss,” Modi said. He also mentioned advising every state to prepare an investor-friendly charter during a NITI Aayog meeting with chief ministers.

Discussing the nation’s economic growth, PM Modi remarked, “India is growing at a rate of eight percent, and there is widespread discussion about our journey towards Viksit Bharat. Today, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy, and it won’t be long before we become the third-largest.”

PM Modi assured that unlike politicians who often forget their promises after elections, he remains committed to making India the third-largest economy during his third term.

“India is focusing on every sector of the economy. Compared to the UPA’s ten-year government, we have increased the railway budget by eight percent. The highways budget has also risen, agriculture spending has grown by over four percent, and the defense budget has increased by over two percent,” Modi added.
