Maoist carrying Rs 3 lakh bounty killed in encounter in Jharkhand

Ranchi, June 1: The Jharkhand police today shot dead Rajesh Oraon, a Maoist, in an encounter in Gumla. He was carrying a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head. This includes Rs 2 lakh announced by the Jharkhand Police and Rs one lakh by the National Investigation Agency (NIA)

The exact location where the encounter took place is a place close to Anjandham under the Sadar police station area of the said district.

Oroan was a resident of Hutar village under the Ghaghra police station of the same district. He was an active member of Ranthu Oraon and Lazim Ansari’s squad. Several cases have been registered against him in the police stations of Gumla and Latehar districts.

The NIA had also registered a case against Oraon in connection with the murder of four policemen in Latehar’s Chandwa. On July 17, 2022, on the instructions of the NIA, the Ghaghra police pasted an advertisement at Oraon’s house.
