Hazaribag, Dec 13: Maoists committed another big incident in Chatra within a week by setting ablaze two earth movers engaged in road construction work. The incident took place in the Karmahi village of Barauni panchayat under Sadar police station which shares its border with Lawalong block.

Sources said 20 to 25 armed extremists reached there on Monday late at night. They used petrol to set ablaze earthen movers there. Before leaving the spot, they raised slogans and left the area and into the forests.

SP Rakesh Ranjan sent a team led by SDPO Avinash Kumar on Tuesday morning for the probe. The team reached the spot and later started a raid in the area. “We are taking regular action against extremism and thwarting their plans,” added Kumar.

On Dec 6, Maoists had set ablaze two earthen movers in Kunda block in the same way.
