Dhanbad Oct 26: Mysterious disappearance of Dhanbad’s marble tycoon, Ghanshyam Agrawal, since the late evening of Tuesday has robbed the sleep of his family members along with the police administration.
As per the information given to police by the family members, Ghanshyam Agrawal (50) left his marble shop located in Dhaiya area at around 8 pm and did not return. While leaving, he had directed his staff to hand over the shop’s key at his house.
When the staff reached his house with the key at around 10.15 pm, family members tried to contact Ghanshyam but his mobile phone was found switched off. Apprehending an untoward incident, they immediately informed Sadar police station as well as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at night.
“Police are searching for him with the help of his mobile location and CCTV footage of different areas,” said Sanjiv Kumar, SSP, to the media. “A team also conducted a search operation of the missing marble trader at the railway station and inter-state bus stand.”
Police also reached his residence at Gyanmukherjee road and interrogated the guard of his establishment late at night. A senior police official ruled out kidnapping apprehension of the trader saying that he had never complained about receiving an extortion call.
Reportedly, one staff of his shop informed police that Ghanshyam Agrawal had taken Rs 500 from a staff member after having lunch late in the afternoon.
Police are also investigating whether the missing trader had any financial burden or bickering in the family which led him to go into seclusion. Ghanshyam Agrawal has three marble and sanitary shops in the coal city.
