Ramgarh, May 14: A meeting of the Ramgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Retail Food Dealers Association was held on Saturday in the Market Committee (Bazar Samiti) premises under the chairmanship of Chamber President Pankaj Prasad Tiwari.
Tiwari said,” Imposition of 2 percent market committee fee by the state government on food grains is against the public interest. With this decision of the state government, the increase in the price of food items is fixed. Due to which the common people will have to bear the additional burden of inflation”.
He said that at present, the general public is suffering due to inflation in the whole country. In such a situation, the decision of the Jharkhand government to implement market tax is anti-people.
In Jharkhand, businessmen are continuously agitating across the state under the leadership of the Jharkhand Federation Chamber of Commerce against this tax implementation by the government.
In the meeting, it was discussed in detail how the traders and common people would be victims of inflation due to the implementation of this tax on behalf of the state government.
The traders said that if the government does not take back its decision, they will be forced to stop the purchase of food items. It was decided that if the state government does not withdraw this tax given the problems of the traders and common people, the Ramgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries will be forced to agitate against the state government.
Along with this, it was also decided that according to the decision of the Jharkhand Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industries that all food grain traders of Ramgarh district will stop the purchase and sale of food grains after May 15.
However, the food items which are in the stock will be normal and will continue to be sold to the public. The daily stock of food items will be made known to the general public through a press release.
