Ranchi: The Jharkhand Provincial Marwari Conference has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate intervention against rising atrocities targeting the Marwari community in Telangana. Conference president Suresh Chandra Agrawal said the Marwari community, known for its tolerance and hard work, has contributed significantly to India’s economic development and deserves protection.
Appeal to the Centre
In the letter, Agrawal requested that Amit Shah pressurize the Telangana Chief Minister to take strict action against those responsible for harassment of Marwaris. He warned that if no steps are taken, Marwari, Gujarati, and Jain communities across the country will be compelled to launch a nationwide movement.
Marwari Community’s Contributions
The president highlighted that Marwaris have built dharamshalas, hospitals, water facilities, and other public services across India, apart from playing an important role in the freedom struggle. Wherever they settle, they adopt local culture, language, and traditions while contributing to the region’s development.
Upcoming Office Inauguration
Conference general secretary Vinod Kumar Jain announced that on August 27, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi, a new office of the Jharkhand Provincial Marwari Conference will be inaugurated at Marwari Bhavan. He urged members and the public to attend the occasion.
