Ranchi, Oct 12: The Jyoti Sangam Durga Puja Committee has prepared a mesmerizing idol of Maa Durga on the campus of Marwari High School for the 8th consecutive year. Though the pandal has not been created on any theme still the beauty of the idol has attracted a huge gathering.
The committee started preparing Durga puja pandals in 1959 and in the Marwari School campus from 2014.
The convener of the committee, Deepak Kumar Pankaj, said that the pandal is not erected on any theme and also no lighting this year except for what is required.
“Every year we used to organize different programmes for the students’ entertainment but like the previous year this year also no programme will be organized,” he further said.
Talking about Covid-19 he said that the committee is strictly following the guidelines of the state. “We are trying to make people aware by distributing masks and also requesting them to wear masks whether in or outside the campus,” he added.
On the participation of students, he said that there is no participation of students this year as according to the guidelines of the state.
In the comparison of Durga puja before and during covid-19, he said that before covid-19 there was always theme-based pandal erected inside the campus but no theme during the pandemic also there is a cap on the height of the idol.
“Earlier we used to do lighting from Gandhi Chowk to Shaheed Chowk but no lighting this year. But still, the state government has supported in the best possible manner and tried to control the spreading of disease keeping in mind the devotion of the devotees,” he further said.
