MBBS admission: 3rd round counselling for all India quota candidates begins

Dhanbad, Sept 9: The 3rd round counselling for the vacant MBBS seats in the five Jharkhand medical colleges under the all-India quota began today.
After two rounds of counselling, 32 MBBS seats of all India quota were remained vacant in the state government-owned five medical colleges.

The highest number of nine  seats under the all India quota are vacant at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh and the lowest four seats are at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad.
The Director, medical education of Jharkhand health department, Dr SK Singh, said that this is the 3rd counselling for the all India quota candidates. “If they fail to get admitted in the prescribed institution, their security deposit would be forfeited,” he added.

“ After it, they would get a chance in stray round. If they did not get admission in stray round, NEET will debar them from appearing next year,” said Dr Singh.

As per National Medical Commission (NMC) directive, admission for the 3rd round on the all India quota should have been started from September 8, but window of the website did not open at any college and so, the admission process began today ( September 9).

SNMMCH Dhanbad admission in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar said that the list of candidates of all India quota for vacant MBBS seats has come. “Some admitted students have gone after upgradation and some have come to take admission. 3rd round admission of all India quota would continue till September 18 and we hope the vacant seats would be filled up,” said Dr Ganesh Kumar.

In Jharkhand medical colleges, 75 MBBS seats ( 15 seats in each medical college) have been reserved for all India quota in which only 43 candidates have taken admission after the last two counselling.
The highest 11 students of all India quota took admission at SNMMCH Dhanbad followed by 10 at Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu, 9 at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, 7 at Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka and 6 at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh.
